Executive Team
Emmy-Award winning writer and producer George Taweel first partnered with TLC Entertainment co-founder Rob Loos in 1987 when both were hired to produce DIC Animation's television and stage production of The DIC Superstar Showcase. The collaboration was so successful that they decided to form Taweel-Loos & Company (TLC) Entertainment in 1988. TLC's first project was the groundbreaking made-for-video mini-movie® series McGee and Me!, which has sold over 4.5 million units to-date, earned 24 Gold and Platinum ITA Video Awards, and was the first made-for-video property to air on American network television (ABC). Along with Rob Loos, George served as co-executive producer of The Captain's Treasure House, a two-hour programming block on Fox Family Channel featuring The All-New Captain Kangaroo (named one of the "Top Ten New Kids' Shows" by TV Guide and winner of a coveted Parent's Choice Award). The duo produced The Legend of Three Trees starring Hal Holbrook, which won the World Gold Medal at the New York Festivals; The Christmas Lamb with Robby Benson and Jodi Benson, which made it all the way to #1 on Billboard's music video chart; and Secret Adventures, named as one of the top ten television programs for girls by TV Guide. Rob and George created, wrote and served as the Executive Producers of TLC Entertainment’s most recent production: Kids’ Ten Commandments – an award-winning series of five TLC mini-movies designed to bring the Bible’s Ten Commandments to life for the kids of today by combining state-of-the art animation, original music, celebrity voices and innovative storytelling. Prior to forming TLC Entertainment, George won an Emmy Award for both writing and producing Survival Guide, a PBS television special hosted by Robert Guillaume. He was also one of the producers of the original Star Search, has directed daytime dramas for CBS, and has been a producer/director of numerous music, variety, and beauty pageant productions. Heralded as a cable TV production pioneer, George produced Rocky Road for TBS (the first situation comedy for basic cable), and he developed and produced Mousercise, a launch series for the Disney Channel which ran for 10 years. George Taweel is a member of the Producers Guild of America, Writers Guild of America, Directors Guild of America, and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, as well as a member in good standing with BMI & ASCAP as both a composer and publisher.
